I tend to run into a few on the northern side of the river, usually just one wil drop enough pelts. To do that you need to gain favor of the elves there by doing their quests. These can be found in Emerald Graves, South-West of the Briatos' Steps camp, north of the Hill Camp, and north of the Gracevine camp both above and below the river. Emerald Graves is your best bet here.
